5 Reasons Why Bringing Your Parents For your Outdoor Shoot Will Be The Best Decision You’ll Make!

Before the Singapore’s COVID-19 Circuit Breaker, we documented a small and intimate wedding for Dzafir & Izzah. After taking the customary solemnization photos at Izzah’s house, the couple then decided to bring their parents out for an outdoor shoot.

We found this decision to be so thoughtful and heart-warming, that we decided to pen-down a few reflections on why this should be a new trend.

Here are 5 reasons why bringing your parents for your outdoor wedding photography shoot will be the best decision you’ll make:

1.  IT’S AN EXTREMELY RARE OCCASION!

With the restrictions surrounding the Singapore’s COVID-19 pandemic, having a social outing alone is difficult, what more to have both sets of parents involved in your outdoor shoot.

So, if planned properly with your wedding photographers, you can achieve both a couple shoot AND a rare family shoot, potentially producing images that would be uniquely memorable in current times. Dzafir & Izzah planned to bring their parents to Fort Canning Park, Singapore for their outdoor shoot after the solemnization ceremony where we managed to capture moments that were extremely heart-warming.

Best of all, there is this warm, comforting feeling when you have both sides of the family with you right after your wedding, and if there’s anything that I remember from my own wedding, it is that feeling of being with four amazing individuals responsible for getting both me and my wife to that very stage of our lives.

2.  YOUR PARENTS WILL LOVE IT AND LOVE YOU FOR IT!

Apart from the formal shots during the wedding event, capturing moments with you and your parents during your wedding day can prove to be quite elusive. While your parents are busy entertaining the guests at the door, you’re most probably going to be busy with guests on stage (or in between outfit changes).

Moments with all of you together during the event are very rare, so take this opportunity to get your parents involved in your outdoor shoot. With all the time and space to you and your parents, this is a great time to have a private moment with them and recap some of the more memorable wedding moments.

Your parents will appreciate you for this amazing gesture, and you will have no regrets for your wedding day.

3.  STRENGTHEN THE BOND WITH YOUR PARENTS, BEFORE YOU EMBARK ON A NEW PHASE OF LIFE.

Once the wedding dust settles, you will find that time becomes a luxury. Juggling work, marriage, a new home and life goals will prove to be your biggest challenge yet, and this entirely new phase of life will take you by surprise. There’s a reason why we’ve heard countless parents remind their children “Please do not forget your parents” during their wedding speeches, because it rings true to its core.

With the whirlwind of a new life taking charge of your hours, days, weeks and years, finding time for your parents becomes a challenge. This, coupled with the potential of a new-born joining the family soon, will be your life-mission for the next few years.

So, before embarking on your new phase of life, take the opportunity to bring your parents for your outdoor shoot to document and strengthen the bond you have with them. We’ll guarantee that it will remain a day that you’ll never forget for both you and your parents.

4.  GROOMSMEN & BRIDESMAIDS ARE OVERRATED, IT’S TIME OUR PARENTS TOOK CENTER STAGE.

It is what it is.

Bridal party shots are great to have, but every couple has them, and they have been done to death. If you plan out your wedding day carefully, bridal party shots can be done at various times throughout the day, because your bridal party is always with you (well, except when they’re away taking a nap after that gate-crash, or for a smoke break).

We’re saying it now: It’s time our parents took center stage for once- which is the least we can do to honor and appreciate all their sacrifices through beautifully documented moments.

5.  FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHS MAKE FOR AMAZING GIFTS!

You can have your family photographs be printed as albums, canvases or framed prints and they’ll make for amazing gifts for your parents.

Whether it’s to celebrate a wedding anniversary, a birthday or just because you feel like gifting your parents something beautiful, those family moments when printed, becomes a lasting memory- a centerpiece that will live in your parents homes, and hearts, forever.

The family portrait- printed and framed is the heart of every home.

The best way to get amazing images for these prints, is to have them during your outdoor shoot on your wedding day. And we really, really recommend that.

At the end of the day, it is your wedding day and you get to decide how things go. Unfortunately, because of the fast-paced nature of a wedding day, it is natural for you to miss out on some especially important moments.

One aspect that is commonly missed out- is that a wedding should serve as an opportunity to strengthen family ties, especially the one with your parents, and we feel bringing them out for your outdoor shoot is one of the best ways to achieve that.
